After a fire burned down her first gallery in Fortuna, CA and Covid closed the second in nearby Ferndale, Ms. Daetwiler packed up her family and moved to Maine. There, with her nine chickens and a dog, she paints things the way she sees them, creating windows into other worlds through imaginative storytelling. The first canvas I’ve done with sooo many colors. Two colors had literally just enough drills to complete them. A bit worrisome when you don’t know if you’re going to need more.
It’s great artwork. I will say the cat looks sad to me. So many mice and none to eat? I don’t have enough confidence to try to change the cat to make it look unsad. Maybe one day.
