James A. Meger couldn’t remember a time in his life that he didn’t want to be an artist. His rural upbringing and his love of nature were the inspirations for his paintings and he often dreamed of combining these loves with a career. After completing his B.F.A., James served as a combat officer in Vietnam for 14 months. Eventually, he ended up teaching back in Minnesota, but he still dreamed of painting. With a lot of outside encouragement, he gave up teaching and six weeks later won the Minnesota State Duck Stamp Competition for 1980. His career took off from that point garnering numerous awards including over 15 Best of Show and Popular Choice awards at major national shows around the country. James died of cancer on August 25, 2011 and is survived by his wife, Laurene; and daughter, Elise.

This really is a great piece to work on there was a good blend of color blocking and confetti, and the eagle really does look amazing. My only issue why this did not get five stars was the number of damaged drills especially with the abs which I ended up running out of because I’m not going to use damaged drills, and spots on the other ones. Other than that I do recommend doing this one customer service is amazing and they are always happy to compensate for the drills I just didn’t have time to wait.
Really enjoyed working on this one.

This is my first from DAC and I am spoiled by the quality. This one is also the largest I have done and I enjoyed the process. I chose this one as my husband loves eagles and he is very impressed. If my photo doesn’t display how beautiful this is, blame the camera and the operator.
