A unique experience

I recently got a painting by Barrett Beegers because I’ve been a huge fan of his style and designs.

This was my first piece in such a dark style, and I wasn’t sure if I’d really like it. I was particularly worried that the dark colors might be a bit overwhelming for me. But I hoped for a beautiful final result – and thank goodness, I wasn’t disappointed.

The upper part of the painting, especially the large owl’s head and the small owl, really tested my patience. The colors were extremely dark, and working on it was truly challenging. You wouldn’t believe it, but the painting uses a total of 90 colors! You wouldn’t notice that at first glance, but it becomes obvious with all the tiny confetti areas, mostly made up of shades of gray, blue, brown, and green. Despite the difficulty, I just couldn’t stop working on it and kept going. Something about this piece completely drew me in and kept me motivated to see it through.

Now that it’s finished, I’m absolutely thrilled. The details are stunning. I particularly love the lower part of the painting, the trees on the right, the ruins, and the moon at the top – everything comes together beautifully. The light border was a refreshing change from the darker tones and made working on that section very enjoyable.

It’s also worth mentioning that I replaced the eye sockets of the skull with black Fairy Dust and painted the window frames as well as the small owl with Fairy Dust, too. I swapped the eyes of all the birds, which were…
